Would a downtown NY public protest against shunning help or harm the Watchtower Corp?
by tootired2care inso i was having an interesting thought the other night -- albeit probably not original, but interesting.
what would be accomplished if thousands of us banded together and held a huge protest of the issue of shunning family right behind the governing body's headquarters (25 columbia heights) in brooklyn bridge park?
the shunning of non-believing family is a strong issue that i'm sure everyone of us could get behind 100%.

The protest would have no effect on the WT or the JWs in Bethel or Brooklyn
The major target of protest would be to reach the public so they know just how horrid the religion is.
As for changing the policy, that won't happen until it hurts them in the courts, then 'newlight' may well flash on that issue.

Angela Trimbur. Homeschooled Jehovah's Witness
by I quit! ini came across this video featured on yahoo of a girl dancing at lax over the holidays.
i looked her up and found out that she is a former jw and even did some sort of play about it.
i was wondering if anyone else has heard of her.

BOE call MS for meeting - anything to do with Elders School?
by konceptual99 inlast night all us servants were called to an important and critical meeting next week.
no one would give me a heads up on it.
our boe went to their secret squirrel school on boxing day last week so i can only assume its related to that.

The last emergancy/critical meeting I went to as a MS was about getting the entire circuit to bail out a kingdom hall foreclosure due to an elders fraud...
hopefully yours will be as interesting...

Why are Witnesses so effective?
by Apognophos ini'm sure some of you chuckled when you read the topic, or wondered if this was sarcasm, but i'm being serious.
yes, witnesses number less than one in a thousand, but that's still millions of people.
people like you and me!

I am a born-in who's just trying to get into the mind of a person who converted, to understand what makes the JW message appealing.
Can't you just siddle up to a convert at the next meeting and just ask them?

Question about this site
by free2beme ini have come to this site for almost a decade.
even though i do not stop by much anymore, i wonder why it has not been upgraded or changed to a more modern format.
it seems like it has basically just been left to what it was upgraded to several years ago.

Difficult Conversations
by jonno12225 inmorning all.
if you have read my previous posts you will know of the final stage of my fade is complete, with no longer attending meetings anymore.
with that in mind, do you have any suggestions to how to handle those conversations raised by familiy and friends about leaving?.
-

I am taking it your wife is still JW?...
If thats the case I think you will always have difficult conversations. In her mind you have betrayed her by cutting the 3 fold cord...and normal transmissions will not resume till you reconnect that jehovah fellow into the marriage.

''The problem has to be with me. He must be just reacting to what I'm doing wrong. I can't act like I'm innocent in all this. I just must not be an easy person to deal with''...
just what he wants you to think. You give him that line and he will use it till your name is doormat.
It's BOTH of your's problem

Flip-flopping all over the place
by confusedteenager inone minute i'm believing completely in god and in jesus christ, and in the next instance i'm questioning all religious systems in general.
i think i'm just lacking faith, but then in the back of my head i'm wondering if i've just been so indoctrinated and deluded...that i can't imagine living without considering that there is a god to be worshiped, or that i need to worship god in order to be happy.
i don't know how full-blown atheists or full blown christians do it either way.

Take a DEEP breath and take it from those who have been where you are now...
The important thing right now is not making stupid mistakes. In other words, stay clear of drugs, use alcahol in moderation if you must, be good to people and work hard. The rest will come. Do NOT go off and do dumb stuff and try all the previous 'forbidden' things...sometimes things are forbidden with good reason!
As for the whole belief thing, you will be adjusting that for the rest of your life so dont rush to figure it out, it doesn't really matter that much.
Life is not about what you believe in your head but about what you DO.
Too much emphasis is placed on 'the meaning of life'. There is no devine meaning. We are here, we breed. Our job is to make our life good for ourselves, those we love and those we choose to help. It is not a dress rehersal for the so called next life, so make it a good one.

Perhaps she will also make the pilgramage to Sydney Bethel and dress in accord with the published dress code. Maybe she will even have lunch with my ex inlaws there after the official tour.
